# How to Use TAGiT

A complete guide to using TAGiT for building your YouTube knowledge library—with both Active Tagging and Daily Digest.

## Quick Start Guide

### 1. Install the Extension

### 2. Choose Your Capture Method

TAGiT offers two ways to capture knowledge:

**Active Tagging** - For intentional moment capture while watching on your computer
**Daily Digest** - For automatic summaries of videos watched on any device

You can use both methods together!

## Active Tagging Guide

### Tag Your First Moment

1. Navigate to any YouTube video (podcast, tutorial, lecture, etc.)
2. When you come across an interesting moment, press the **Tag button** or use the hotkey:
   - **Alt + T** (Windows/Linux)
   - **Opt + T** (Mac)
3. TAGiT will instantly generate a tag with AI summary and flashcards
4. You can edit your tag right from the YouTube interface once it's generated

### View Your Dashboard

1. Click the "**View in Dashboard**" button from the extension
2. This opens your personal TAGiT dashboard
3. Here you can manage all your tags and review your flashcards
4. You can also export all your data in multiple formats

## Daily Digest Guide

### What is Daily Digest?

Daily Digest automatically captures and summarizes videos from your YouTube watch history—even videos watched on TV, phone, or tablet. You receive an AI-powered email with key insights, flashcards, and action items at your scheduled time.

### Enable Daily Digest

1. Open the TAGiT extension side panel
2. Navigate to **Settings** > **Daily Digest**
3. Toggle **Enable Daily Digest** to ON
4. Choose your delivery time (default: 7:00 AM)

### Configure Smart Filtering

Daily Digest automatically excludes non-educational content:
- Music videos
- Sports highlights
- Gaming content
- Entertainment/variety
- YouTube Shorts

You can also customize filtering:

**Open Mode (Default):**
- All channels included except your blocked list
- Add channels to block in Settings

**Curated Mode:**
- Only channels in your curated list are included
- Perfect for focused learning from specific creators

### Personalize Your Digest

1. Go to **Settings** > **Daily Digest**
2. Add your **Learning Bio** - Tell TAGiT about your interests and goals
3. The AI uses this to personalize summaries and recommendations

### What's in a Daily Digest Email?

Each digest includes:
- **Video summaries** - Key concepts from each video
- **Key insights** - The most important takeaways
- **Bonus insights** - Hidden gems you might have missed
- **Action items** - Concrete next steps
- **Book/video recommendations** - Related resources to go deeper
- **Flashcards** - Auto-generated for spaced repetition
- **Chat links** - Discuss any video with AI

## Creating an Account

To sync your data across all your devices:

1. Click to create an account and register with TAGiT
2. Sign up options:
   - Sign up with Google (recommended)
   - Sign up with email and password
3. All your tags and digests will now sync across devices

## Managing Tags

### View All Tags
- Under the **Tags tab**, view all your generated tags
- Tags include timestamp, transcript, AI summary, and flashcards

### Search Tags
- Search with any keyword to find tags, flashcards, or videos
- Instant results across your entire knowledge library

### Jump Back to Videos
- Click on any timestamp to go back to the selected YouTube video moment
- Instantly resume watching from that exact point

## Reviewing Flashcards

1. Click on the **Flashcards tab** to start reviewing
2. Read the question and try to recall the answer
3. Flip the card to see the answer
4. Choose an answer to indicate how well you remembered:
   - **Hard** - Didn't remember well (review sooner)
   - **Good** - Remembered okay (standard interval)
   - **Easy** - Remembered perfectly (review later)
5. This helps with the spaced repetition algorithm for optimal retention

Flashcards are generated from both Active Tags and Daily Digests!

## Exporting Your Data

You can export all your data to use in other software:

1. Go to your dashboard
2. Click the **Export** button
3. Choose your format:
   - **PDF** - For reading and printing
   - **Markdown** - For note-taking apps
   - **JSON** - For technical use
   - **CSV** - For spreadsheet analysis

## Settings & Customization

Visit your **Settings page** to customize:

- **Context window** - How much transcript to capture around your tag
- **Summary length** - How detailed you want AI summaries (Short, Medium, Long)
- **Daily Digest** - Delivery time, filtering mode, channel lists
- **Learning Bio** - Personalize AI recommendations
- **Theme and notifications**

## Keyboard Shortcuts

- **Alt + T** (Windows/Linux) or **Opt + T** (Mac) - Tag current moment
- Works while video is playing - no need to pause!

## Tips for Better Learning

1. **Use both methods** - Active Tag important moments, let Daily Digest catch the rest
2. **Tag while watching** - Don't wait until the end, capture moments in real-time
3. **Review flashcards regularly** - Spaced repetition works best with consistent practice
4. **Customize your digest** - Add a learning bio and curate your channel list
5. **Use search often** - Connect ideas across different videos
6. **Chat with videos** - Go deeper on digest videos using the AI chat feature
7. **Export periodically** - Back up your knowledge library
